Iceland Destination Wedding & Elopement Photography

Iceland is one of those places that doesn’t really need much explaining once you’re there.

The landscapes are pretty unreal — waterfalls, black sand beaches, mountains that don’t quite look real — and it changes constantly depending on the weather. It’s unpredictable, but in a good way. You just go with it, and that’s usually when the best moments happen.

I’ve spent some time photographing in Iceland, and it’s easily one of my favourite places for destination weddings and elopements. There’s something about the space and the scale of everything that makes the day feel a bit more stripped back. Less about timelines, more about just being there and taking it in.

A lot of couples head to Iceland because they want something different. Not a big traditional wedding, just something more personal — a small ceremony, a few close people, or sometimes just the two of them. It suits a more relaxed approach to photography as well, where nothing feels staged and everything just happens naturally.

From a photography point of view, it’s one of those places where you don’t need to force anything. The light, the landscape, the weather — it all does its own thing. You just work with it and document what’s there.
